× Join university chancellor and celebrated broadcast journalist Shelagh Rogers for an intimate conversation with Indigenous language champions Lorna Williams, Renee Sampson and Leslie Saxon. Here in B.C. and around the globe, Indigenous peoples are continuing their work to ensure languages are thriving and shape identity and a sense of place and belonging. Learn the vital role of Indigenous languages in maintaining the histories, knowledge and wisdom of a people, and how language holds the key to heal people and the land.

Our three guests include Wanosts’a7 (Dr. Lorna Williams), Lil’watul, Professor Emerita of Indigenous Education, SX̱EDŦELISIYE (Renee Sampson) language revitalizationist, co-founder of the LE,NOṈET SCUL,ÁUTW̱ Immersion school, and Dr. Leslie Saxon, Professor, Department of Linguistics.

This is a Free Event, but tickets are still required. Once reserved, tickets must be picked up from the Belfry Box Office before 6:45pm on March 5. After 6:45pm, all tickets that have not yet been picked up will be released. Rush tickets will be available at the door.

CANCELLATIONS: If you have booked tickets and find that you cannot attend, please contact the Box Office at 250-385-6815 as soon as possible, so that we may release those seats for someone else to use.

This event is a part of Ideafest, the University of Victoria’s weeklong festival of world changing ideas.
